Ashley Julka Earns To Honors in GROWMARK Essay Contest

The 2008 GROWMARK Essay theme was “Understanding Cooperatives.” The purpose of the contest is to improve proficiency in writing and increase understanding of current issues in agriculture.  The contest was open to all FFA members.  GROWMARK awards a $500 scholarship to the state winner and a $300 award to the state winner’s FFA chapter in their honor.  The four state runners-up will receive a $125 scholarship.

STATE WINNER: Ashley Julka, Laconia
RUNNER-UP: Kendra Bliese, Pulaski
THIRD PLACE: Isabel Cupino, Oconto Falls
FOURTH PLACE: Taylor Holterman, Watertown
FIFTH PLACE: Valerie Ponterio, Melrose-Mindoro
