Hodnik Named Agriscience Student Award Winner
The Agriscience Student Award recognizes FFA students who have excelled
in an agriscience project or activity. The Agriscience Student of the
year will represent Wisconsin at the National FFA Convention. They will
also get a $100 cash award and a trophy for their efforts.
STATE WINNER: Alicia Hodnik, Big Foot FFA
Alicia conducted an experiment called "The Impact of Genetic Alteration
on Edible Film Antimicrobial Agents," where she examined the possibility
of using a small film made from pureed fruits and vegetables to act
as a potent antimicorbial compound to work against pathogens. Hodnik
says she is excited about helping with the process of growing food that
is safe, and pathogen free.
