| Mahaney Selected as National FFA Officer Candidate
Wisconsin now has its candidate to run for a National FFA Officer position at the organization's national convention later this year. Marie Mahaney from the Brodhead FFA Chapter has been selected to run for the job, in which she will compete for one of six spots in the country to help run the National FFA Organization and lead youth members for a year.
Mahaney, who attends the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, has served as the 2007-08 State FFA Treasurer. She is also involved with the UWP Collegiate FFA. To help prepare for the interview process, she will be working with ag teachers and others to develop the skills needed to compete for the title. Marie will also be making many appearances at local FFA banquets throughout the state this spring.
In 2004, Wisconsin's Jackie Mundt was elected as National FFA President--the first time since 1982 that the Badger State had a representative on the national board.
Each state is allowed to send one national officer candidate to the convention.
