| Holly Sutcliffe
Named State FFA Star in Agribusiness
STATE WINNER: Holly Sutcliffe, Wisconsin Heights FFA Sutcliffe first purchased two fainting goats as companion animals--but two goats were just not enough. Holly bred the does and increased her herd size with four multicolored kids that she showed at the fair. Sutcliffe quickly realized how little the public knew about the once endangered Myotonic breed, that don't really faith but have an ion miscommunication between legs and shoulders, causing them to fall over when frightened. Holly has turned her hobby into a small business venture, complete with an informative website and successful breeding program. She gets FFA members to help prepare and show her delightful creatures. Sutcliffe also takes them to nursing homes to interact with elderly residents. To help with cash flow, she works at Hoofbeat Ridge Horse Camp. Sutcliffe hopes
to show her goats at a Myotonic Registry breed show to obtain national
coverage. She wants to continue to educate the public about the fainting
goat breed.
