Kayla Schuld Named State FFA Star in AgriScience

STATE WINNER: Kayla Schuld, Marshfield FFA

Since September 2008, Kayla has logged over 1,000 hours working at the UW-Madison Ag Research Station's State Forage and Soils Lab in Marshfield. There, she performs soil and forage tests for farmers and businesses from around the state. Her most frequent duty is weighing out and grinding forage samples

Kayla works efficiently and effectively producing quality results. She tests for nitrate levels and conducts starch and fat analysis.

Schuld feels her lab experience in the Agribusiness Co-ops Course in school will be a benefit in her chosen Veterinary Medicine career. Her dream is to open a shelter for abused and neglected animals in the Kentucky/Tennessee area, where her ultimate goal is to be an equine veterinarian for racehorses at Churchill Downs.

OTHER FINALISTS:

  Emilie Cerny, Big Foot FFA
  Jenna Verhaagh, Pulaski FFA
  Dakotah Meyer, Tri-County FFA

SPONSOR: Monsanto Chemistry, Seeds and Traints, and Haldeman-Homme, Inc.
