Florida farm bureau's day of advocacy and celebration in Tallahassee

In an impactful gathering on January 16, over 300 Farm Bureau members, including 4-H and FFA students, convened in Tallahassee for the annual Farm Bureau Day.

This event was a prime opportunity for grassroots members to engage directly with elected officials, discussing crucial agricultural issues such as healthcare affordability for farm families and the necessity of labor reform.

The day started with a briefing breakfast, featuring talks by State Sen. Danny Alvarez and Rep. Corey Simon, emphasizing the significance of agriculture and the need for advocacy.

Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb S. Smith highlighted the efforts of Commissioner Wilton Simpson in launching Hurricane Idalia recovery programs, praising the support provided to farmers and ranchers through the Agriculture Disaster Recovery Program.

The highlight of the day was the Taste of Florida Agriculture reception in the Capitol Courtyard. This event showcased the state's rich agricultural offerings, from oysters to homemade guacamole, attracting hundreds of attendees. The evening was further enlivened by performances from the Bellamy Brothers, marking a celebration of Florida's agricultural community and its contributions.

This annual event not only underlined the importance of dialogue between farmers and policymakers but also showcased the resilience and diversity of Florida's agriculture, fostering a greater understanding and appreciation among the wider community.
