PDPF's 'Two Cents' Program Going Strong After Five Years
USAgNet - 09/23/2016

A voluntary milk check-off type program designed to help fund education and programming efforts for the nation's dairy industry has reached a milestone. The Professional Dairy Producers Foundation says its 'Two Cents for Tomorrow' campaign was launched five years ago, where dairy farm owners are able to contribute up to two-cents per hundredweight of their milk.

Foundation Director Deb Reinhart says the program now has 54 producers signed-up to either consistently give toward the campaign via automatic deduction from their milk check or have given some sort of gift to be used for the effort.

"We have a lot of passionate producers who feel strongly about giving to this program for the best interest of our industry," Reinhart told Wisconsin Ag Connection. "About 65 percent of the foundation's total revenue comes from 'Two Cents for Tomorrow' and we couldn't be more pleased with their generosity."

The PDPF is a separate, charitable fund-raising arm started by the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin in 2002 to focus on long-term education projects that give producers and industry supporters the opportunity to give back to their profession. The group is the lead sponsor of PDPW's Youth Leadership Derby and other educational programs; and also provides grants to the nation's dairy industry each year to be used for dairy promotion and educational purposes.

Reinhart says interested farmers can contact the PDPF to make arrangements if they would like to participate in 'Two Cents for Tomorrow' or the foundation's annual 'I Believe' giving campaign.
