Wisconsin Ag Connection - 08/27/2014

The Waupun-based East Central/Select Sires has awarded five scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to college agriculture students at two- and four-year universities.

The cooperative says applicants were judged on academics, agricultural and community involvement, as well as dedication to the agriculture industry.

The scholarship winners include Chad Bruss, Markesan, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville this fall studying dairy science; Karsen Haag, Mount Horeb, second year at Southwest Technical College to study agribusiness; Taylor Holterman, Watertown, a senior at UW-Madison majoring in life sciences communication; Elizabeth Sarbacker, Verona, a freshman at UW-Madison, studying dairy science; and Jordan Siemers, Newton, a freshman at Cornell University studying dairy business and dairy cattle genetics.

Each of the students achieved academic success and have shown outstanding leadership ability to qualify them for this scholarship. They were recognized at the recent East Central/Select Sires annual meeting in Madison last week.
