PDPW to Hold First-Ever Course on Dairy Financial Literacy
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/01/2017

The Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin is organizing its inaugural Financial Literacy for Dairy program this fall. The October 23-24 course will be led by Ag Economist Dr. David Kohl and will provide dairy farmers and allied industry the knowledge base and financial acumen needed to successfully and confidently make daily, annual and long-term strategic decisions for their dairy business.

Kohl will begin with an exploration of the foundation of financial literacy by laying the groundwork by covering goal setting, family finance and financial planning. He'll also navigate participants through the interpretation of standard financial documents, and calculate and evaluate cost of production for your dairy business.

The sessions will be held in Madison, with additional two-day sessions to follow in December, January and April. Attendees will go to a deeper level of financial understanding around topics of cash flow budgets, enterprise profitability, cost center tracking, key performance measures and ratios.

The session will be limited to 30 attendees. Registration costs $1,200 for PDPW members and $1,400 for non-members, which includes training, meals, refreshments, and meeting materials for the full four-session training currycomb.
