Prices Down on NASS Cheese Survey

Prices were lower on the National Ag Statistics Service's Weekly Cheddar Cheese Survey on Friday. The price of 40 pound blocks for Minnesota-Wisconsin averaged $1.99, down five cents from last week's price, while 500 pound barrels were 11 cents lower at $1.88. The price of U.S. 40-pound blocks were down six cents at $1.90 for the week ending August 16. The barrels were at $1.79, nearly a dime less than last week.

Butter prices were three higher as the price for 25 kilogram and 68 pound boxes meeting USDA Grade AA standards averaged $1.59 per pound for the week.

Nonfat Dry Milk prices were down three cents for the week at $1.36 per pound for USDA Extra Grade standards.

And for 'other states,' blocks were down 14 cents at $1.89, and the barrels were at $1.87, which was down 10 cents compared to the previous week.
