State Poultry Producers Collecting More Eggs

Wisconsin egg production during August was 192 million eggs, up three percent from a year ago, but two percent lower from the previous month.

According to the latest USDA Chickens and Eggs report, the average number of all layers on hand during August was 7.66 million--eight percent more for the year, but off two percent for the month. Eggs per 100 layers were 2,509.

Nationally, egg production totaled 9.29 billion, down two percent from August 2019. The average number of layers totaled 380 million, three percent lower from last year. Production per 100 layers was 2,445 eggs.

Total layers in the United States as of September 1 totaled 382 million, which was three percent less than the previous year.
