Parents Reminded to Keep Children Safe at Harvest Time
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/03/2015

Farm safety should be a priority all year long, but it is especially important during harvest time. To help learn ways to keep your children safe around the farm, the Marshfield-based National Children's Center for Rural and Agricultural Health and Safety is holding a webinar later this month to explore childhood farm hazards.

The online presentation will be held at noon on September 23. Youth Agricultural Safety Specialist Marsha Salzwedel and Project Manager Bryan Weichelt will cover actual childhood injury incidents and preview injury news clippings.

"Each year, news headlines tell grim but preventable stories of death and injury," Salzwedel said. "Non-working children, ages 6-and-under, are particularly vulnerable."

Meanwhile, the webinar will also describe proven safety strategies and resources that farmers, parents and employers are encouraged to use to keep children safe. Time will be provided for questions and discussion.

AgriSafe Network is hosting the webinar as part of its National Farm Safety and Health Week series. To register for the free webinar, go to https://agn.memberclicks.net/live-webinars.
