Prices Down on NASS Cheese Survey

Prices were lower again this week on the National Ag Statistics Service's Weekly Cheddar Cheese Survey. The price of 40 pound blocks for Minnesota-Wisconsin on Friday averaged $1.92, down seven cents from last week's price, while 500 pound barrels were three cents lower at $1.85. The price of U.S. 40-pound blocks were down seven cents at $1.83 for the week ending August 23. The barrels were at $1.76, about three cents lower less than last week.

Butter prices were three cents higher as the price for 25 kilogram and 68 pound boxes meeting USDA Grade AA standards averaged $1.63 per pound for the week.

Nonfat Dry Milk prices were also up three cents for the week at $1.39 per pound for USDA Extra Grade standards.

And for 'other states,' blocks were down eight cents at $1.81, and the barrels were at $1.84, which was down three cents compared to the previous week.
