Brett Favre Corn Maze Finally Opens Near Eleva
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/02/2008

Carlene and Duane Schultz of Eleva have opened the gates to their 2008 corn maze challenge, which depicts Brett Favre holding a football with the word "Thanks" carved into the pattern. As Wisconsin Ag Connection reported earlier in the summer, the project was supposed to be a farewell tribute to their favorite quarterback.

But now that Favre has come out of retirement and decided to play elsewhere, how did fans react to the maze? Carlene says the heat may have kept some people away, but over 100 people did go through on Sunday.

Temperatures were about 85 degrees during that day. She says the number of visitors usually picks up around October when temperatures are cooler and pumpkins are picked.

The field is located about 20 miles south of Eau Claire. The family planned the maze after Favre announced his retirement in the spring.

The six-acre section of corn also features a breast cancer ribbon symbol in the corner, because the Schultz's plans to donate $1 from each ticket sold to the Deanna Favre Foundation for breast cancer education, support, and research.
