Quincy Media Holding Farm Aid Telethon on Friday
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/20/2019

To help support struggling family farmers, the Quincy Media Television stations in Wisconsin and Farm Aid are teaming up to host a live, 18-hour telethon on Friday. The broadcast began at 5:00 a.m. this morning and runs through most of the day to encourage viewers to donate money on-air or online to raise funds that provide support, emergency relief and other resources for family farmers in the region.

Organizers say the ongoing crisis in farm country is directly impacting family farmers in the upper Midwest, including Wisconsin.

"Like those across the country, the region's farmers are experiencing the impacts of intensifying corporate consolidation, a multi-year downturn in the U.S. agricultural economy, rising production costs, diminished crop yields from extreme weather this spring and market disruptions due to trade wars," the media group posted on its website.

Anchors and reporters from all five television stations--which includes WAOW, WKOW, WXOW, WQOW and KBJR--will be hosting this live event with updates throughout the day live on-air and on Facebook. Volunteers will be on hand answering phones.

Donations can be made online at www.farmaid.org/wisfarm or by calling 833-WIS-FARM from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20th.
