Wisconsin FFA Ready for National Convention in Indy
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/22/2021

Members of the Wisconsin FFA Association will carry on their tradition of excellence next week as delegates, officers and award winners head to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 94th National FFA Convention. The National FFA Organization says they are expecting over 70,000 to attend the event, as students representing the blue-and-gold will spend the week learning about agriculture, meeting new friends and getting motivated by inspirational speakers.

The popular career and trade show will be open throughout the week. And students will be motivated and inspired by the retiring addresses of this year's national FFA officers.

Wisconsin's delegation will be especially busy this year. Cortney Zimmerman from the Spencer FFA is a candidate running for a national officer position. Seven members will be competing as national finalists for Proficiency Awards. And 84 other students from the Badger State will be receiving their American FFA Degrees.

Meanwhile, many local chapters will also be recognized during the conference as Wisconsin programs will be honored as three-star chapters. They include Big Foot, Clintonville, Columbus, DeForest, Denmark, Granton, Lake Geneva-Badger, Manawa, Marshall, Slinger, Waupaca, Waupun, and Weyauwega-Fremont. Granton was also named a premier finalist for in the area of Growing Leaders, and Denmark for Growing Communities.

Also at the convention, adult honorary membership will be granted to Columbus High School Ag Teacher Glenda Crook; Case IH Executive Ryan Schaefer; Michelle Stuttgen and Alison Wedig of Culver Franchising System; and Ag Professor Doris Mold of Cumberland. And the family of the late-Jeff Hicken will be presented with a VIP Citation.

The National FFA Convention will be held October 27-30 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
