Korean Trade Team to Visit State Soybean Operations
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/12/2013

The four largest Korean food manufacturers will tour Wisconsin soybean farms and The DeLong Company in Clinton on Friday. The delegation will learn about where their soybeans come from, assess Wisconsin soybean production methods and see the food-grade soybeans that will be shipped to Korea for processing.

Wisconsin is a major exporter of soybeans, with about 65-percent of the state's overall crop being sent to other countries annually. Last year, sales of state bean exports totaled $2.94 billion.

Tours stops include the Mike Cerny Farm in Sharon at 10:30 a.m., followed by stops at The DeLong Company and the Ken Luety Farm.

Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board is inviting the public to take part in the tours to learn about various soybean uses, the soybean growing season and ask farmers questions.

For more information about the tour, call the WSMB at 608-274-7522.
