Crop Forecast Still Shows Record Corn Yield in Wisconsin
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/12/2014

Corn growers in the Badger State are still expecting their yields to match or exceed the record harvest realized in 2010. The USDA's Crop Production report this week noted that corn yields in Wisconsin are forecast at 162 bushels per acre, up 16 bushels from 2013 and six bushel above the August estimates. Total corn production in the state should total 510 million bushels this fall, 15 percent above last year's harvest and four percent more than the August prediction.

Wisconsin soybean production is estimated at 81.9 million bushels, up 39 percent from last year's 58.9 million bushels. If realized, this would be the second highest production on record. Soybean yield is forecast at 46 bushels per acre, up eight bushels from 2013 and three bushels more than the August forecast.

Area harvested for beans remained unchanged at 1.78 million acres. And the expected acres harvested for grain was also unadjusted at 3.15 million acres.

Meanwhile, the next production forecasts, based on conditions as of October 1, will be released on October 10.
