Rep. Ribble Announces Re-Launch of Congressional Dairy Caucus
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/29/2015

Dozens of members of the U.S. House of Representatives announced Wednesday they will reform and reactivate the Congressional Dairy Farmer Caucus. Wisconsin Congressman Reid Ribble, who will co-chair the coalition of farm state lawmakers during the 114th Congress, says over eighty members have signed on to be part of the group. Rep. Peter Welch of Vermont is the other co-chair.

"Our members worked together successfully on a number of matters in the last session and we look forward to finding solutions for issues impacting dairy farmers," Ribble said. "Wisconsin is well-known for its substantial dairy industry, and the Congressional Dairy Farmer Caucus gives me the opportunity to work more closely with and better represent dairy farmers."

The Congressional Dairy Farmer Caucus is a bipartisan, nationwide group of members that was formed to address the wide range of issues that matter to dairy farmers and their industry partners. They will provide a forum for members to work together on issues including farm bill policy, trade agreements, regulatory policy and immigration.

The caucus was initially started in 2006 and involved both House and Senate members to collaborate on policy issues that addressed the interests of dairy producers nationwide. It was revived once again in 2009.
