Warrens Cranberry Festival to Celebrate Another Harvest
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/21/2017

Cranberry growers and local community residents in Monroe County are ready to celebrate another bountiful year this weekend with the 45th annual Warrens Cranberry Festival. Event organizers say about 100,000 people from around the country are expected to taste the treats and enjoying the fun at this year's celebration.

The small town of about 400 people celebrates the cranberry industry each year because it is home to the largest concentration of the cranberry marshes in the state--with over 285 million pounds of the crop produced annually in the area.

The fun kicks-off on Friday morning with tours of local bogs and an evening fish fry. On Saturday, attendees can take part in the Lion's Club Steak Feed, cookware demonstrations, a church service and variety of other activities. The festival wraps up on Sunday with a parade in the downtown.

About 850 arts and craft booths with be available all weekend, along with 350 flea market and antique dealers.

The Warrens Cranberry Festival was started in 1973 as a way to raise funds for village improvements. Since then, the event has generated about a half-million dollars for community projects and special events.
