Ethanol Researcher to Address Bioenergy Summit
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/23/2010
The top researcher for the world's largest ethanol producer will be the keynote speaker at the third annual Wisconsin Bioenergy Summit next month in Madison. Greg Hartgraves, senior research director of
POET, will outline progress in cellulosic ethanol technology and talk about how grain-based and cellulosic industry segments will work together to make ethanol more sustainable. The forum takes place
October 14 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center.
Hartgraves brings more than 20 years of broad R&D experience in fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals to POET, a South Dakota-based enterprise that operates 27 plants in seven states and produces more
than 1.6 billion gallons of ethanol annually. Most recently, he has led a team of researchers in further developing a cellulosic ethanol process and new products derived from cellulosic material.
The Wisconsin Bioenergy Summit will also feature a series of panel discussions and workshops on such topics as homegrown energy projects, renewables and sustainability, bioenergy research and energy
policy. The Wisconsin Bioenergy Initiative hosts the annual conference with additional support from We Energies, the Wisconsin Alumni Association, Clean Wisconsin and the Energy Center of Wisconsin.
The full conference schedule and registration can be found at http://www.wbi.wisc.edu/bioenergy-summit.
