WI Pork Association Announces Support for Tommy Thompson
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/26/2012

A fourth Wisconsin farm organization is endorsing Tommy Thompson for U.S. Senate. The Wisconsin Pork Association announced its support for the former Wisconsin governor and Bush health secretary.

WPA Executive Vice President Mike Wehler says Thompson is a proven leader with a strong record of providing Wisconsin's agri-businesses with regulatory relief and encouraging free trade.

"Pork producers throughout the state of Wisconsin recognize the need to send Tommy to the U.S. Senate," Wehler said. "Just like he did as Governor of Wisconsin, we are confident that Tommy will fight for America's job creators in Washington, D.C."

Thompson says he is honored to earn the support of Wisconsin's pork producers.

"These men and women are the heart of Wisconsin and represent the very values that I grew up with on my family's farm in Elroy," Thompson said in a statement. "Their dedication to making sure American families have food on their tables every day provides me with the motivation to go to Washington and reform our broken government."

During the summer primary election, Thompson received the endorsements of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, Dairy Business Association and Wisconsin Corn Growers Association.

He is facing Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin of Madison for the open U.S. Senate seat being vacated by long-time Sen. Herb Kohl.
