WBIA Praises New Iowa Study on Ethanol
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 09/26/2014

A study from Iowa State University concluded that continuing the Renewable Fuel Standard will lead to lower prices for consumers at the pump. Life Cycle Associates found that the renewable fuel in E15 displaces cancer-causing emissions from gasoline, resulting in a net decrease in cancer risk of 6.6-percent compared to regular gas.

"The crux of this report is that Big Oil's argument that the RFS will raise prices for consumers is hogwash," said Joshua Morby, who serves as director of the Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance.

In addition, the study noted E15 forms less smog than regular gasoline and reduces the amount of greenhouse gas emissions by 1.5-percent when compared to regular gasoline.

Morby says ethanol blends are renewable, cleaner burning, and help support Wisconsin's economy.

The WBIA is a diverse group of businesses, environmental groups and statewide and local organizations that have come together to build both public and legislative awareness of the Bio Industry in Wisconsin.
