Carson to Lead Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/27/2020

The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association will soon have a new executive director. Jo-ell Carson has been hired to run the day-to-day management and operation of the Madison-based organization. Her first day in the new role will be October 30.

"I am eager to connect with the wonderful people of the WVMA," Carson said. "I have the utmost respect for the veterinary profession and how it influences the well-being of our animals, our lives and our world - reaching from the pets we love to irreplaceable research to the agricultural side that sources our food supply."

Carson has worked in marketing and communications leadership roles for more than 20 years, including stints as team leader at the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce and American Red Cross. She has also worked at Charter Communications, American Family Insurance and as a real estate broker.

As director, Carson will also act as a liaison to lobbyists and policymakers to push for the best interest of the organization.

Jo-ell replaces Kim Pokorny, who left the WVMA earlier this year to become the chief administrative officer of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau.
