New Holland Pavilions Dedicated During WDE Opener
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/01/2014

Over 2,500 head of dairy cattle couldn't be happier with their new digs at the nation's largest dairy show. State and local dignitaries dedicated the New Holland Pavilions during the opening hours of World Dairy Expo at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison on Tuesday. General Manager Scott Bentley said the event marks an exciting time for the grounds and the dairy industry as a whole.

"It's fitting that World Dairy Expo gets to be the first to use these buildings," Benley said. "This show has been here the longest and it's an exciting new chapter in the history of World Dairy Expo."

State Agriculture Secretary Ben Brancel added that the project has been several years in the making.

"This is not just a ribbon cutting ceremony, it's much more than that," he proclaimed. "The agricultural industry in America's Dairyland has a $43 billion impact on the state's economy and with that comes great responsibility to provide products that are nutritious in order to feed customers all over the world."

Meanwhile, Governor Scott Walker also toured the new structures and told the crowd that the project will open new opportunities for the area in the future.

"World Dairy Expo draws agriculture partners from around the world to Wisconsin to share innovative ideas and products, and allows us to showcase the state as a prominent leader in the dairy industry," Walker said. "Our investment in this project allows the Alliant Energy Center to continue to host world class events, which have a direct effect on Wisconsin's growing economy."

Brancel told Wisconsin Ag Connection that the pavilions have already been booked for several other international livestock shows and conventions, with others currently looking at Madison to old their events as well.

The multi-use pavilions span 290,000 square-feet and are equipped with modular stalling systems, modern ventilation and livestock exhibitor amenities. Each include indoor restrooms with showers, livestock stalls, wash bays, and a mezzanine level with pre-function space and is heated for year-round use.

The project was funded through a combination of public and private partners, including the state of Wisconsin, World Dairy Expo and the Midwest Horse Fair. The remaining funds were provided by Dane County and private contributors. New Holland purchased the naming rights for the facility for $1.5 million.
