Green Lake County Added to Golden Sands RC&D Council
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/01/2014

Members of the Golden Sands Resource Conservation & Development Council have voted unanimously to adopt Green Lake County into their regional working area. Green Lake joins Adams, Juneau, Marathon, Marquette, Monroe, Portage, Waushara, and Wood counties as the 10th area to be represented by the organization.

Golden Sands RC&D is a local non-profit that has worked for over 40 years to help protect and promote Central Wisconsin's natural resources by partnering with state and federal government agencies, local governments, grass-roots organizations, teachers, farmers, conservationists and others to work toward common goals. They work every day on projects that support sustainable agriculture, healthy forests, clean water and abundant wildlife.

Green Lake County was previously represented by Town and Country RC&D, but decided to change after partnering with Golden Sands RC&D and Marquette County.

"Green Lake County is located in a rural setting that better matches the interests of the group of counties within the Golden Sands District," explained Paul Gunderson, Green Lake County's Conservationist.

For the past year and a half, Golden Sands RC&D has managed and coordinated a Regional Aquatic Invasive Species program in Green Lake and Marquette Counties.
