Corn Growers Sought for New Leader Training Program
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/02/2014

The Wisconsin Corn Growers Association is looking for growers to participate in the 2015 National Corn Growers Association-DuPont New Leaders Program. Coordinators say the hands-on communications and leadership training program designed for corn growers who are just becoming active in their industry and are interested in strengthening their existing skills so they can better serve American agriculture at the local, state and national levels.

The program is implemented in three phases. In January 2015, program participants will travel to Johnston, Iowa, for two and half days of initial communications training and background presentations on today's top issues facing corn farmers, as well as an up-close look at DuPont Pioneer.

In the spring, participants will be expected to take part in communications or other programs at the state or national level, such as attending state board meetings and/or Commodity Classic, and participating in CommonGround or the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance. Activities currently planned between January and July include a reception at Commodity Classic in Phoenix and at least two webinar conference calls to review progress and plan future activities.

Then in July 2015, participants will travel to the East Coast for a day at DuPont facilities in Wilmington, Delaware, followed by several days in Washington, D.C., where they will take part in NCGA activities, including action team meetings, a Corn Congress policy session and visits to Capitol Hill.
