Badger Steam & Gas Grounds to Host 2023 Farm Tech Days
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/30/2020

The location of the 2023 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days may be held in the Wisconsin Dells area. WFTD General Manager Matt Glewen says the show's board has approached the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club about holding the outdoor farmshow at its grounds that summer. If the deal comes to fruition, it would be the first non-county hosted show in the event's six-decade history; and only the second time since 1972 that it would be held in Sauk County.

"We have not officially signed the contract yet, but the BSGE board is very excited about the prospects of hosting Farm Tech Days," Glewen told Wisconsin Ag Connection. "They have a great site with easy access to the Interstate and many other accommodations to help the show run smoothly."

BSGE Board President Steve Roudebush told Wisconsin Ag Connection that a separate committee has been established within their organization to work on the show.

"We have more than 300 acres of open area and lots of buildings to house foodstands and vendors," Roudebush said. "In addition, we have porta potties, plenty of room for parking and our own security team in place."

The group is also considering the idea of holding demonstrations on precision agriculture, as well as thrashing machines with actual steam engines to showcase the way things used to be on the farm.

The steam engine grounds are located between Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells near the intersection of Highways 12 and 33. The club holds an annual equipment swap each May in addition to its yearly festivities in August. Roudebush says FTD would be scheduled between those two events.

Next year, the farm show will be held at Huntsinger Farms on July 20-22, 2021 in Eau Claire County. Clark County will host in July of 2022 at Roehl Acres and Rustic Occasions near Loyal.

Farm Technology Days is run by a group comprised of representatives of state and federal agencies involved in agriculture and natural resources, the University of Wisconsin, and the agribusiness-industry and farming sectors.
