Portage County Students Earn Farm Tech Scholarships
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/08/2014

Three volunteer students who helped put on Wisconsin Farm Technology Days in Portage County this past summer have been honored with college scholarships.

During the committee's recent volunteer appreciation event, Wyatt Adams from Plover was given $2,000, while Kayla Domaszek of Amherst Junction and Jake Feltz of Plover earned $1,000 and $500, respectively.

Each of the recipients were volunteers at the show, held in August at Blue Top Farms and Feltz Family Farms.

Adams, a student at Fox Valley Technical College, volunteered in a number of areas at the show, including signage and landscaping efforts around the Family Living Tent, and teaching youth about fishing in the youth area of the show. Domaszek, a senior at Rosholt High School, worked extensively in the youth area, both setting up the displays and staffing several exhibits during the show. And Jake Feltz, a student at UW-Madison, was a member of the host farm family. He worked to clean and ready the farm to host the show and was also involved with moving trams back and forth from the Iola Car Show as well as a tram driver at the show.

The support for the scholarships was provided by the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days Board of Directors. Members of the board's executive committee served as the evaluators of the applicants.
