Culver's Proclaims October 15 as National Cheese Curd Day
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/12/2015

One of Wisconsin's favorite restaurant chains is hoping to bring some attention to one of it's most popular snack foods: the cheese curd. Culver's has officially declared Thursday, October 15 as National Cheese Curd Day.

"We're excited that cheese curds finally have a day of their own," said Craig Culver, co-founder of Culver's. "We hope people will celebrate by visiting their local Culver's. If you've never tried a cheese curd, this is the day to do it."

An essential product of the cheesemaking process, cheese curds have been a staple of Midwest diets for generations, and a popular item at Culver's since 1997. Culver's cheese curds start with dairy-fresh little chunks of yellow and white Wisconsin cheddar that are breaded and deep-fried golden brown for a warm, buttery crunch.

Craig Culver says more than 16.2 million orders of Wisconsin Cheese Curds were served in over 550 restaurants in 22 states last year.

To highlight the newest national holiday, Culver's launched the "Golden Cheese Curd Sweepstakes." For each purchase of cheese curds through November 1, a golden ticket will be given with a code that can be entered online for the chance to win $1,000 in Culver's Gift Cards and cheese curds for a year, as well as other prizes.
