Winners of Wisconsin Soybean Yield Contest Named
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 01/30/2015

The Wisconsin Soybean Association and Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board has named the top winners of the 2014 Soybean Yield Contest. The growers were given a plaque and cash prices during this week's Corn/Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells.

"With Wisconsin weather the way it's been, it's tough to remember that there is a growing season coming for these participants," said Dr. Shawn Conley, UW-Extension Soybean Specialist who oversees the competition. "It's not just about the yields produced across the state, but also how those beans are produced and managed."

The top two entries in each division include:

DIVISION 1
** Jerry Koser, Almena (planted DuPont Pioneer 91M10) - 54.72 bushels
** Paul Graf, Sturgeon Bay (planted DuPont Pioneer 90Y90) - 38.45 bushels

DIVISION 2
** Steven Stetzer, Melrose (planted NK Brand 17G8) - 81.78 bushels
** Steven Kloos, Stratford (planted DuPont Pioneer 91Y90) - 60.60 bushels

DIVISION 3
** Ron Ellis, Walworth (planted Jung 1250RR2) - 73.80 bushels
** Travis Van De Hey, Kaukauna (planted DuPont Pioneer P22T69R) - 63.32 bushels

** Kevin Bahr, Darlington (planted Channel 2402R2 Brand) - 84.99 bushels - STATE WINNER
** Tim McComish, Shullsburg (planted Channel 2402R2 Brand) - 79.62 bushels

The contest is sponsored by the Wisconsin Soybean Program and organized to encourage the development of new and innovative management practices and to show the importance of using sound cultural practices in soybean production.
