The University of Wisconsin-Platteville will host a public reception later this month in conjunction with a series of educational events through the Wisconsin Dairy Goat Association.

The October 30 event will feature Alice in Dairyland Cheryl O'Brien and cheese makers will be at the reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the University Rooms at the Pioneer Student Center on the UWP campus.

Tickets are $5, available in advance at the Driftless Market, 95 W. Main St., Platteville, or at the door. Goat cheeses and goat meat hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Meanwhile, there will also be a field day will be held on October 17 at the Laura and Antony Jay farm, near Monroe, beginning at 9 a.m. The Jays have 160 milking does and also raise vegetables for farmers markets. Admission is free, but advance registration is recommended.

And the "Focus on Goats: A Conference in the Heart of the Nation's Dairy Goat Industry" will be held from October 30-31 at Sinsinawa Conference Center in Sinsinawa.
