Alice in Dairyland to Celebrate Tree Cutting Virtually
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/13/2020
It appears that Alice in Dairyland Julia Nunes will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the state's ceremonial first Christmas tree cutting without an audience this year. But the event will still take place on a Christmas tree farm on November 18.
Online viewers can watch Nunes live at Evergreen Acres in Walworth County on her Facebook page at 10:00 a.m. The farm is a family business owned by Ann and Bob Feucht.
The event has been held each year in mid-November since 2000 as a way to bring awareness to the Christmas tree industry, while promoting the annual Alice in Dairyland finals. That has been scheduled for May 2021.
Wisconsin is the nation's fifth-largest Christmas tree producer, with an annual harvest of more than 600,000 trees valued at more than $16 million.
