Wisconsin Dairy Farms See Nice Bump in September Milk Price

The Wisconsin all milk price for September was $17.40 per hundredweight. According to the latest USDA Agricultural Prices report, that was $1.20 higher than last month's price, but 80-cents lower than the same time a year earlier.

The U.S. all milk price for September was $16.70 per cwt, 70-cents lower than Wisconsin, but 80-cents higher than a month earlier. All of the 23 major milk producing states had a higher price when compared with August.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.51 per pound on October 30, while barrels were $1.24 per pound. The CME butter price was $2.22 per pound.

For the week ending October 20, the Agricultural Marketing Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $1.69 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $1.43 per pound. The U.S. butter price was $2.26 per pound.
