Dr. Meyer to Serve in NAAB Capacity
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/27/2016

A Wisconsin veterinarian has been named the assistant service director for Certified Semen Services and the National Association of Animal Breeders' assistant technical director. Dr. Rory Meyer will begin his duties in early December, where he will work closely with the CSS service director in auditing programs and services as well as the technical aspects of the NAAB. He will also evaluate and engage in new opportunities to expand the CSS services to A.I. companies both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Meyer works for Alta Genetics as its staff veterinarian. He also served with USDA staff in Fort Collins, Colorado, as an Analytical Epidemiologist from 2005 to 2007, as well as a veterinary Medical officer in 2007-2008. Between 2003 and 2005 he was the VMO at the USDA-APHIS office in Olympia, Washington, where he was actively involved in implementing programs to monitor and control the spread of BSE as well as diseases of concern in other species of livestock. He also worked in Australia for a year with the former RAB Australia.

"With Rory's technical background and international experience, we see numerous opportunities to expand the CSS/NAAB programs domestically and internationally," said NAAB President Dr. Gordon A. Doak.

After earning his undergraduate degree from University of Nebraska, Rory earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. He received his Master of Veterinary Science in Theriogenology in 1998 from the University of Saskatchewan.

Rory has been on the CSS board of directors since 2009. He will remain based at his new office in Madison.
