Food Ingredient Company to Open Plant in Beloit
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 10/20/2008

An Idaho company plans to bring up to 90 jobs to Beloit to add to the mix of Rock County's growing food ingredient and processing sector. According to the Janesville Gazette, HydroBlend, Inc. will move into a 40,000-square-foot building in the city's business park by the end of the year. The company also plans to buy two lots adjacent to the site on Sager Lane and build a 60,000-square-foot research and development and production facility.

Company officials say line jobs are expected to start at about $12 per hour, while those in the production and research will pay about $26. HydroBlend makes batters and coatings for food.

"They were really looking to locate in the Midwest because of the proximity to resources as well as their customers," said Andrew Janke, the city's economic development director. "Even though it took a year, this was still a fast-track project for them, and they loved the idea that we had a spec building that they could be operational in very quickly."

Janke says the company wanted to locate in Beloit to take advantage of the area's excellent workforce and its growing cluster of businesses in the food processing and ingredients sector.
