October All Milk Price Jumps to $21.50 Cwt.

The Wisconsin all milk price for October was $21.50 per hundredweight, according to the latest USDA Agricultural Prices report. That was $3.80 higher than last month's price and 80-cents more than the same time last year. It was also the second-highest price of this calendar year behind July, when the price averaged $22.30 cwt.

The U.S. all milk price for October was $20.20 per cwt., $1.30 lower than Wisconsin's price, but $2.30 higher than in September. Nineteen of the 24 major milk producing states had a higher price when compared with the previous month, while five states were lower.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block cheese price closed at $1.66 per pound on November 30, while barrels were $1.41 per pound. The CME butter price was $1.36 per pound.

For the week ending November 21, the Agricultural Marketing Service U.S. weekly 40-pound block cheese price averaged $2.55 per pound, and 500 pound barrels adjusted to 38 percent moisture averaged $2.30 per pound. The U.S. butter price was $1.49 per pound.
