Wisconsin OYF Nomination Period Extended Till November 30
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/18/2019

The nomination deadline for the 2020 Wisconsin Outstanding Young Farmer award has been extended until the end of the month. Program coordinators say they are looking for nominations from a variety producers of agricultural commodities to apply for next year's program.

"We are extending our deadlines for nominations until the end of November," said Cindy Matton, OYF Awards Weekend event organizer. "We know there are many more farmers from all disciplines between the ages of 21-39, that deserve to be recognized. The application will then be due by mid-December."

Applicants must be younger than 40 years of age and derive at least two-thirds of their income from farming. The award is based on 50-percent progress in their ag career, 25-percent from soil and water conservation and 25-percent for contributions to their community, state and nation. Successful nominees will compete for the top award during the Wisconsin OYF Awards Weekend in Chippewa Falls this January. Applicants will also be vying for the 'Speak Up for Agriculture' award during that weekend.
