New Senate Leadership Appointments Announced
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/05/2010

State senators didn't wait long to elect new leaders for the upcoming legislative session.

Republicans lawmakers elected Scott Fitzgerald of Juneau as the new majority leader on Thursday. Neenah Senator Mike Ellis was chosen as president of the Republican caucus, which will take over control of the Senate in January.

Fitzgerald was elected without opposition after being nominated by Alberta Darling of River Hills and Dale Schultz from Richland Center.

Meanwhile, Democrat senators elected Mark Miller as their new minority leader, with Dave Hansen from Green Bay serving as assistant minority leader.

Senator Julie Lassa from Stevens Point, who ran an unsuccessful campaign to replace retiring Congressman Dave Obey, was chosen as the Democratic Caucus Chair.
