Milk Prices Paid to Farmers On the Way Up

Wisconsin's October milk price is expected to average $14.40 per hundredweight. This price is 90 cents higher than September's price of $13.50 per cwt., but $4.40 less than October 2008.

The expected U.S. milk price for October, at $13.80 per cwt., is up 90 cents from September, and is 60 cents lower than Wiscon-sin’s price. All states are predicting a price increase from October to September. Pennsylvania is expecting a $1.20 per cwt. rise in price, while Michigan's and New York's prices are anticipated to rise by $1.00 per cwt.

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange 40-pound block price closed at $1.51 per pound on October 30, while barrels were $1.48 per pound. The CME butter price was $1.41 per pound.

The Agricultural Marketing Service Class III price for October is $12.82 per cwt.
