Number of E-85 Pumps in Wisconsin to Grow
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/06/2008

The National Governors Association recently announced a partnership between General Motors and Wisconsin to help build additional E-85 ethanol pumps in the state. Wisconsin currently has just over 100 stations that have pumps which provide E-85, a renewable fuel made right here in Wisconsin that contains 85-percent ethanol and 15-percent regular petroleum.

"It's great that both GM and the NGA are committed to growing Wisconsin's biofuel industry," said Joshua Morby, executive director of the Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance. "This partnership will help let consumers in every corner of Wisconsin have the opportunity to fill up their vehicles on E-85."

Morby says General Motors and the NGA selected a total of 10 states with which to partner. Each state will establish an E-85 task force that includes a team of state officials, retailers, and automobile manufacturers to help identify target areas for E-85 refueling stations. The task force will identify potential funding sources to support pump installation or conversion and assist with implementing the resulting recommendations.

"Providing consumers with more E-85 will help grow Wisconsin's economy, end our dependence on foreign oil, and improve our environment," said Morby. The Wisconsin Bio Industry Alliance is a diverse group of businesses, environmental groups, and statewide and local organizations that have come together to build both public and legislative awareness of the Bio Industry in Wisconsin.

According to the Wisconsin Corn Promotion Board, consumers can print a current list of Wisconsin stations offering E85 at: www.cleanairchoice.org.
