Wisconsin Strawberry Crop Was Down in 2014

Wisconsin strawberry production in 2014 was estimated at 3.80 million pounds, down three percent from last year, and tied with 2012 as the lowest production in over a decade, according to USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Although harvested acres declined 13 percent from 720 to 630 in 2014, yield per acre at 6,000 pounds was up 11 percent in 2014 compared to 5,400 the year before.
The average price received was unchanged year-to-year at $165 per hundred pounds, with the total crop value estimated at $6.27 million, down 3 percent from the previous year.
