Lomira Teacher Recognized for Agricultural Curriculum
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/24/2015

A second grade teacher at Lomira Elementary School is the recipient of the Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom's Outstanding Teacher Award. Kayla Adamson was selected by members of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau's Agriculture in the Classroom program, which recognizes teachers for their efforts in teaching students the importance of agriculture.

"Adamson's application proves that she is not only an outstanding teacher in her classroom, but that she works hard to network and collaborate with other teachers and volunteers with many organizations," said Ag in the Classroom Coordinator Gretchen Kamps. "A key of her program is a cross-curricular approach to help students learn about different facets of agriculture. Ultimately, she wants them to be able to discuss how food gets from the farm to their tables."

Adamson received her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Wisconsin Lutheran College. She also attended a one-year Spanish Immersion Program at La Academia, in Quito, Ecuador. Kayla taught middle school English at HOPE Christian School: Prima, in Milwaukee before coming to Lomira in 2012.

She will be Wisconsin's nominee for the National Excellence in Teaching Agriculture Award and will receive a cash award.
