Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/17/2009
Do you enjoy delivering speeches, meeting people, traveling and working with school children? If so, you may want to consider applying to become Wisconsin's 63rd Alice in Dairyland.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the program. Applicants must be a Wisconsin resident and at least 21 years of age before June 7. Due to the professional demands
of the position, applicants must possess education, training, or experience in communications, marketing, agriculture, public relations, or a combination of these.
Alice in Dairyland has a strong history in Wisconsin. Today, as Wisconsin's agricultural ambassador, she is a public relations professional whose role ranges from educating people to buy local Wisconsin

"Alice in Dairyland is the spokesperson for Wisconsin's signature industry, agriculture, which is a $59.16 billion industry," said current Alice Cheryl O'Brien. "From interviewing with media and using social
media, to public speaking to groups of all sizes and varying backgrounds, to visiting farms and classrooms to work with youth - A day as Alice in Dairyland is always different, yet very rewarding."
This is a one year, full-time position to begin June 1. The woman selected will travel approximately 40,000 miles as a spokesperson for Wisconsin's food, fiber, and natural resources industry. She has the duty
of presenting hundreds of speeches, media interviews, and educational presentations throughout the year.
Knowledge or experience in planning and executing public relations or marketing campaigns is a plus. The preferred candidate will also have the ability to discuss Wisconsin's agricultural products and issues
facing agriculture in both rural and urban environments. Public speaking skills are essential to the position.
The annual salary is $40,000, plus travel expenses and individual health insurance reimbursement. For more information, call 608-224-5080. Applications are due on January 15.
