State Fair Continues to Rank Among the Best Events in the Nation
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/11/2018

The awards continue to pile up for the Wisconsin State Fair, held each summer near Milwaukee. Fair office officials have announced that the event won 40 awards at the 128th Annual International Fairs and Expositions Convention held last week in San Antonio, Texas.

Award entries are evaluated and judged by a team of industry leaders. The Wisconsin State Fair submitted entries in the four main categories of the event, which include Agricultural Awards, Competitive Exhibits Awards, Innovation in Sponsorship and Hall of Honor Communications Awards.

Wisconsin State Fair Park CEO Kathleen O'Leary says the WSF has entered IAFE awards for many years, but 2018 marked the fifth time it was judged in Division 5, which includes fairs with annual attendance of more than one million people.

"The IAFE awards programs are extremely competitive, and Division 5 includes the biggest and best fairs, expositions and rodeos from across the globe," O'Leary noted. "We are honored to not only compete against these great events, but to consistently place across all categories."

Within the Agricultural Awards categories, the fair received a total of 11 awards, including six first place designations in various categories. The event also earned a total of 12 out of 15 possible Competitive Exhibits Awards this year.

Next year's Wisconsin State Fair will be held August 1-11 in West Allis.
