Farmers Still Encouraged to Help North Dakota Ranchers
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/04/2017
With many North Dakota ranchers suffering from extreme drought conditions this past year, the University of Wisconsin-Extension is asking local producers to help out by proving any extra feed they may have available to spare.
Last summer, former State Agriculture Secretary Ben Brancel issued a call-out to state farmers, where he encouraged them to place any extra hay on the state's Farmer-to-Farmer website.
North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has been reaching out to Wisconsin to ask for help to spread the word about his state's need.
The University of Wisconsin-Extension operates the website at http://farmertofarmer.uwex.edu, which helps connect farmers with hay to buy or sell. A hotline is also available for callers to report what they are able to provide at 701-425-8454.
