Rep. Nerison Re-Appointed Chair of Assembly Ag Committee
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/08/2016

A Westby lawmaker will continue to serve as chairman of the Assembly Agriculture Committee during the next legislative session. State Representative Lee Nerison, who's been a member of the panel since 2005, was first elected as its leader six years ago. He is a former dairy producer and has operated his family farm in western Wisconsin for over 40 years.

Nerison has served as the committee's vice-chair from 2005-08. He is a 1971 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Farm and Industry Short Course, and a former board member of the Coon Valley Lions, Vernon Co-op Oil and Gas Company, Viroqua & Westby FFA Alumni, and his local church. He also served on the Vernon County Board from 1998-2006.

Rep. Todd Novak of Dodgeville will continue to serve as vice-chair of the committee.

Meanwhile, Rep. Joel Kleefisch from Oconomowoc will become the chairman of the Natural Resources and Sporting Heritage committee. That panel's primary focus is to work on rules related to hunting and fishing, endangered resources, watercraft, wildlife management, state lands, and local planning issues such as shoreland zoning. The chair of the Environment and Forestry panel will be Rep. Jeff Mursau of Crivitz. And Rep. Mike Kuglitsch, New Berlin, will lead the Energy and Utilities committee.

The 2017-18 legislative session begins January 3.
