Dunn Co. Farm to Supply State Capitol with Christmas Tree
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/01/2008

The State Capitol's Christmas Tree is being erected in Madison today. This year's tree is a 50-foot balsam fir, which was cut last week at Roger Conklin's tree farm near Wheeler.

The nearly 30-year-old tree will be placed in the Rotunda on Monday, and will be decorated on Tuesday. Governor Jim Doyle will then host a public lighting ceremony on Friday.

Conklin calls the tree tall, slender and uniform. He says he's honored the state chose his farm to supply this year's tree.

For the past 26 years, Conklin has owned a 200-acre tree farm.
