Ag Science Credit Bill Among Those Signed into Law
Wisconsin Ag Connection - 12/13/2013
Starting next year, students who take certain agriculture classes in high school will be able to have those courses qualify for science credit. This week, Governor Scott Walker signed over 25 bills into law, including the measure that would require students to take three credits each of math and science, instead of two in order to graduate.
As part of the new policy, computer science classes will count as a math credit and agricultural sciences will be acceptable for the new science requirement.
The changes are part of an effort by local school districts to implement more rigorous academic requirements under the Common Core State Standards.
The higher requirement would also bring Wisconsin more in line with neighboring states.
