Winners of Wisconsin Soybean Yield Contest Named

The Wisconsin Soybean Association and Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board have named the top winners of the 2015 Soybean Yield Contest. The growers were given a plaque and cash prices during this week's Corn/Soy Expo in Wisconsin Dells.

"This was a very good year for soybean production, so it was a real accomplishment to see these impressive results from our participants," said Dr. Shawn Conley, UW-Extension Soybean Specialist who oversees the competition.

The top two entries in each division include:

DIVISION 1
** David Lundgren, Amery (planted Cropland R2C1494) - 75.67 bu/a
** Jerry Koser, Almena (planted DuPont Pioneer 91M10) - 60.27 bu/a

DIVISION 2
** Craig Oehmichen, Abbotsford (planted Asgrow AG1431) - 79.72 bu/a
** Jim Salentine, Luxemburg (planted Steyer 1140L) - 74.17 bu/a

DIVISION 3
** David Wilkens, Random Lake (planted NK S20-T6 Brand) - 77.15 bu/a
** Derek Yanke, Loganville (planted NK S20-T6 Brand) - 75.93 bu/a

DIVISION 4
** Dale and Kevin Bahr, Belmont (planted Asgrow AG2535) - 89.23 bu/a.
** Jon Riley, Darlington (planted Asgrow AG2433) - 88.85 bu/a.

The contest is sponsored by the Wisconsin Soybean Program and organized to encourage the development of new and innovative management practices and to show the importance of using sound cultural practices in soybean production.
